Fast Company/Monitor Group Social Capitalist Award Winners (11/06) The fourth annual Social Capitalist Awards honors 43 entrepreneurs who are changing the world. The honorees meet stringent standards for social impact, entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability and growth. Four of them are Social Enterprise Alliance members: Calvert Social Investment Foundation, Hands on Network, Nonprofit Finance Fund and Pioneer Human Services.
2006 Manhattan Institue Social Entrepreneurship Award Winners (11/06) The Manhattan Institue for Policy Research Award for Social Entrepreneurship honors five nonprofit leaders who have found innovative, private solutions for America's most pressing social problems. Beginning in 2007, prizes will include a $100,000 grand prize and four $25,000 prizes. Applications for 2007 will be available online after January 12, 2007 at www.manhattan-institute.org/se.
2006 Global Social Ventures Competition (4/06) The winners of the seventh Global Social Ventures Competition are Mobile Medics (1st Place), Advanced Transit Enterprises (2nd Place) and The Highland Tea Company (3rd Place). OneWorld medical Devices is the Social Impact Assessment Winner. This competition is a partnership between the Haas School of Business, Columbia Business School, the London Business School, and the Goldman Sachs Foundation.
Skoll Awards for Social Entrepreneurship Winners (3/14/06) The Skoll Foundation awarded $16 million dollars to 16 established organizations around the world led by social entrepreneurs. The three year grant investments support the expansion and larger-scale replication of awardee programs. Award winners also are eligible to apply for progam-related investments from the foundation.
Amazon.com Names Nonprofit Innovation Award Winner The winner of the 2005 Amazon.com Nonprofit Innovation Award is DonorsChoose. The award, created in partnership with the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Center for Social Innovation, went to the organization receiving the most online donations during the contest period. DonorsChoose generated more than $790,000, which was matched by Amazon.com, bringing its total earnings to more than $1.5 million. The other nine finalists kept the monies they raised during the competition.
Market-Based Strategies that Benefit Low-Income Communities (11/05) Changemakers announced the four winners of the Market-Based Strategies that Benefit Low-Income Communities competition. In the citizen sector, the 1st place winner is the Rural Women Bank from India and the 2nd place winner is the RUGMARK Consumer Awareness Campaign based in the U.S. In the business sector, the 1st place winner is the Mango Tree Educational Enterprises from Uganda and the 2nd place winner is the Sambazon Sustainable Açai (Sustainable Management of the Brazilian Amazon) from Brazil. Changemaker's current Innovation Award Competition is Meeting Disaster: Before, During and After.
